Travelling with your baby can be very stressful and quite often a nightmare, specially if you forget to pack all the essentials. This post is here to help those who hate to pack and need some help as to figure out what an absolute essential is.

The first thing you should always have ready is your changing bag, it will be your best friend when travelling. Here is what I usually have in mine: Changing mat, nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, dummy, extra set of clothes, hat, bib, food/bottles, drink, muslin square, one or two toys and breast feeding cover. I also pack, in the summer, some baby sunglasses. However I know that not all babies like using them, so it's a bit hit and miss. And then of course I also have my sons Red Book in my changing bag (the NHS recommends that you always have it with you in a case of emergency).

Don't forget your rain cover. That is a must need essential, specially if you live in the United Kingdom!

If you are going out for a shopping trip or using a lot of public transport then I would ditch the buggy and use a baby carrier instead. Not only will it give you the use of both hands, but it will also give you free cuddles! The baby carrier I use, can be used in four positions so that means once your back starts hurting you can change the position of the baby.

This baby carrier makes shopping so much easier.

Some things to consider getting for car travel is proper sun light protection and possibly an indoor car mirror. While driving in the car babies need to be protected from the sun, for this I recommend you get these all window covering protectors. They are very easy to fit and cover the whole window. And the car mirror makes it possible to keep an eye on your baby while driving and also once baby is older you can have proper conversations and don't have to turn your head.

And here is something I only just recently discovered. If you've ever taken your little human to a restaurant and there weren't any highchairs available then here is the solution for you! It is a travel booster seat. It attaches to any chair comes with a 3 point harness and will make it possible for both you and your tiny human to have a meal in relative peace.

For overnight stays, I recommend you get a travel cot. The travel cot can be taken anywhere as it folds down neatly and can be stored in a bag.

Also if your baby needs complete darkness to sleep, like my son, then you should consider getting these portable blinds. They will fit to any window and will black out the room. I still use them today when my son goes on sleepovers to my relatives.

Are there any travel essentials you couldn't be without?
